Member, Task Force to Study Increasing the Availability of Substance Abuse Programs, 1998-2001; Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore of Maryland, 2006- (treasurer, 2008; 1st vice-chair, 2009). Past president, Commission on Aging, Wicomico County.

Served in U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve. Former director, alcohol and drug abuse programs in Allegany, Washington and Worcester counties. Board of Directors, Maintenance of the Aged in the Community (MAC), Inc.; Hudson Health Services; Poplar Hill Mansion, Salisbury. Member, Wicomico County Democratic Club. Married; five children, fourteen grandchildren.
