Attended Baltimore City public schools; Baltimore Hebrew University; Goucher College (returning women program). Former educator and business owner. Board of Directors, Maryland Association of Counties, 2008- (president, 1995; legislative committee); member, National Association of Counties. Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 2000. Member, Community and Economic Development Steering Committee, National Association of Counties. Board of Directors, Maryland Science Center; Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.; Chimes Maryland Foundation; Park West Medical Center. Member, Women's and Children's Advisory Board, Sinai Hospital; Community Advisory Board, Harambee Treatment Center, University of Maryland. Member, Maryland Economic Development Association. Three children; six granchildren.
