Annual Report to Governor due June 30.

In December 2006, the Maryland State Forensic Sciences Advisory Board was authorized by the Governor (Executive Order 01.01.2006.11). The Advisory Board was charged with improving the practice of forensic sciences in Maryland. It was to promote collaboration and cooperation among the State's crime laboratories; ensure that those laboratories have the most modern equipment and technology and use the best quality control procedures; work to obtain and maintain appropriate professional accreditation for Maryland facilities; and address employee issues, such as enhanced training and compensation, and the adoption of an ethics code to ensure the highest level of integrity and professional standards in forensic work.

The Board was to review the recommendations of the Forensic Sciences Task Force, and advise the Governor on how the State might implement the recommendations to improve forensic services in Maryland. Also, the Board was to coordinate the efforts of the State's crime laboratories in seeking technical and financial assistance.

The Board's members were never appointed, and the Board never met.
