The Auto Insurance Task Force to Study Rates in Urban Areas was formed by the Maryland Insurance Commissioner in February 2005. The Task Force reviewed ways to reduce high auto insurance rates in urban areas and thereby reduce the resulting numbers of uninsured motorists. The Task Force submitted its final report in April 2006.

COMMUNICATIONS
Renamed Communications and Consumer Services in Aug. 1999.

COMMUNICATIONS & CONSUMER SERVICES
Renamed Public Affairs in July 2005.

CONSUMER COMPLAINT INVESTIGATION SECTION
In Sept. 2004, renamed Consumer Education and Advocacy Section.

CONSUMER RESOURCES
Under Consumer Complaint Investigation Section, abolished in 2002.

CONSUMER SERVICES
Formerly under Professional and Consumer Services, renamed Consumer Resources and moved to Consumer Complaint Investigation Section in 1999.

FISCAL, LICENSING & SUPPORT SERVICES
Renamed Fiscal and Support Services in 1997, when licensing functions were transferred to Licensing Section.

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Under Office of Commissioner, combined with Policy to form Policy and Government Affairs in July 2003.

INQUIRY & INVESTIGATION
Under Life and Health Section, functions transferred to Consumer Complaint Investigation Section in 1997.

INQUIRY & INVESTIGATION
Under Property and Casualty Section, functions transferred to Consumer Complaint Investigation Section in 1997.

LICENSING COMPLIANCE & INVESTIGATION UNIT
Under Licensing Section, abolished in 2002. Functions transferred to Compliance and Enforcement Section.

Under Office of Commissioner, combined with Government Affairs to form Policy and Government Affairs in July 2003.

PROPERTY & CASUALTY AGENCY ENFORCEMENT UNIT
Formerly under Consumer Complaint Investigation Section, renamed Agent Enforcement Unit and transferred to Property and Casualty Section in Nov. 1999.

PROPERTY & CASUALTY EXAMINATION
Under Office of Chief Actuary, abolished in 1998.

TRAINING & EDUCATION
Under Professional and Consumer Services, renamed Training and Facilities in 1997.
