Born in Baltimore, Maryland, May 27, 1951. Attended Western High School, Baltimore; Community College of Baltimore County (paralegal studies); George Meany Institute (labor relations). Maryland Political Director, Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters, 2004- (lobbyist, 2004-06). Personnel Officer, Baltimore City Public School System, 1974-88. President, City Union of Baltimore, 1988-96. Field representative and lobbyist, Baltimore Teachers Union, 1997-2003. Delegate, Democratic Party National Convention, 2008. Past member, Baltimore City Democratic Central Committee. Member, Trinity Circles Ministries Church, Hanover (secretary & special events coordinator). Married; five children, eight grandchildren.
