Admitted to Maryland Bar, 1980. Attorney. Member, Maryland State and Allegany County Bar Associations. Administrative hearing officer, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, 1986. President, Board of Directors, Cumberland Central Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), 1986-87. Former member, Advisory Board, New Dominion School. Western Maryland community relations representative to Maryland Environmental Service. Outstanding Maryland Public Official, Chemical Industry Council of Maryland, 1990. Legislative Law Enforcement Friend of the Year, Fraternal Order of Police, Maryland State Lodge, Inc., 1991. Legislator of the Year, Maryland State's Attorneys' Association, 1991. Outstanding Young Marylander, Maryland Jaycees, 1992. Legislator of the Year, Maryland and District of Columbia Professional Firefighters Association, 1993.
