Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, February 7, 1941. Attended Crisfield High School; Baltimore Institute. Project Director, Somerset County Community Action Agency, 1966-76. Partner and chair, Landmark Insurance, Inc., 1979-. Board of Directors, Lower Shore Sheltered Workshop, 1971-78 (president, 1976-77); J. Millard Tawes Foundation, 1980-; United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, 1986- (campaign chair, Somerset County, 1989; vice-president for Somerset County, 1990). Chair, Committee to Build Somerset County Public Golf Course, 1989-93. Member, Lower Eastern Shore Mayors' Association, 1978-; Crisfield Area Chamber of Commerce (president, 1975); Salisbury State University Foundation, 1986-; Tangier Sound Music Festival. Member, Delmarva Water Transport Committee, 1976-82 (vice-president, 1977-80); Delmarva Industrial Developers Association, 1977-80 (vice-president, 1978-79). Married; two children.
